  • [PH]Explore the world, but beware of falling to your death, teleport at key locations, interact with fantastical contraptions, avoid traps that are both magical and human in design. Uncover the nature of the world, the story of what came before, and what may come next!
  • [WIP] AAA graphic settings - change between ultra low end (mobile-like) to modern era console graphics 
    • Intense shadows, awe inspiring atmospheric effects, post processing with cinematic layers, and more. Includes windowed or full screen, v sync, select widescreen resolutions.

The page is under construction in a "live" manner but trails significantly behind the "live development" of the game - the best most recent status of the project will be available on Discord and Twitch, with plans to rollout moderate informational development updates on YouTube.

    • The Licenses file is included with every packaged build as required by the resources that have been used in the project. This includes information about certain assets and their authorship - probably only interesting if you like legal or are a developer that is also interested in those resources.

~~~[Development & Project History]~~~

  • Project in its earliest iteration started in Spring 2017.
  • The project has had multiple "living migrations" from older engine versions to newer versions, currently locked with Unity's 2021 LTS (Long Term Service).
    • Note, there exists a stretch goal of migration to Unity's 2022 LTS. 
      • Unfortunately the scope and growth of the project has made this more challenging, with a moderate risk of existing asset packages needing additional tweaking to provide migrated support. Bottom line is that this provides large amounts of invisible value to the player aside from visual package features, but great development value internally, with larger production value for the life of the production studio.
      • The additional features that Unity has continued to showcase remains exceptionally compelling and attractive and as such would be a fantastic value addition to the project and experience.
    • This has included an entire rendering edition upgrade which took nearly half a month of development to migrate all existing assets and bring to parity the initial project's vertical slice in project quality and visual fidelity. 
    • Ultimately, this was worth the change as it has included multiple modern additional rendering techniques that are found in traditional AAA titles.
  • The project has had multiple tangential research lines that did not contribute to the existing project as-is. This includes:
    • ~18 Months of Production Time Investigating Asset Packages or Tools that did not appropriately have a relevant place or a uniquely valuable addition to the workflow, or bottom line value proposition to the player.  
      • This includes learning and prototyping amazing tools that are just simply not being leveraged for RogueMelee's current workflow, but may be reintroduced if the production team size increases.

      • We have a great desire to publish across all available platforms, for the largest amount of accessibility, and with the stretch goal intent of supporting alternative hardware for unique experiences. This also includes Localization (multiple language support).
